Role of the committees
The role of the policy committees is to provide advice to the Chamber of Commerce & Industry Queensland Policy Council and Board that encompasses:
- Identifying emerging issues and the strategic management of these issues
- Practical advice and a business perspective on the issues
- Develop policy positions to address the issues directly at State and Federal Government levels through the Australian Chamber of Commerce and Industry
Membership
- Committee membership will be drawn from the range of Chamber of Commerce & Industry Queensland business sectors
- Members will be chosen on the basis of their business knowledge, experience and skills relevant to the specific committee
- Members will be selected by a panel comprising Chamber of Commerce & Industry Queensland's President and General Manager - Policy & Membership
- Membership will be reviewed annually by the Chamber of Commerce & Industry Queensland Board
- Committee Chairs will be appointed by the Chamber of Commerce & Industry Queensland Board
- Each committee will include at least one member of the Chamber of Commerce & Industry Queensland Board
Operation
- Generally each committee should comprise no more than 12 members including the chair but this may vary according to the circumstances
- There is no financial support for committee members in terms of travel or other expenses
- Special purpose reference groups may be formed from time to time to deal with particular issues relevant to the committee
- Committee members will be given the opportunity to represent Chamber of Commerce & Industry Queensland in various forums dealing with issues relevant to the specific committees
- Media comment on issues relevant to the specific committee will be confined to the chair, with approval of the President
Meetings
- Meetings will generally be held at least three times each year, although particular circumstances could dictate otherwise
- The Business Representation team will provide appropriate secretarial services for each committee and will arrange venues, agendas etc
