Safe Work Australia Week – 24 to 30 October 2010

CCIQ is encouraging businesses to get involved in Safe Work Australia Week 2010 to help reduce the 100 work-related fatalities and nearly 30,000 serious injuries and diseases which occur in Queensland workplaces each year.

There are many events planned, with a particular focus on harmonisation of the Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) Laws. Australia continues to work towards nationally harmonised OHS Laws, with Safe Work Australia currently developing a national model. The Commonwealth and each State and Territory will implement these by the end of 2011.

State of Origin Coach and football legend, Mal Melinga will be at Safe Work Australia Week to show his support for the importance of WHS and the Zero Harm at Work Program.
