Does your business operate an ERA?

Environmentally Relevant Activities (ERAs) are activities that will, or have the potential to, release contaminants into the environment and the contaminants may cause environmental harm.

Environmental impacts associated with business and industrial activities are primarily managed through licensing ERAs under the Environmental Protection Act 1994. Schedule 1 of the Environmental Protection Regulation 1998 lists and describes the activities that are ERAs.

You may be surprised which activities are ERAs. As well as the obvious, such as chemical manufacturing and fuel burning, it includes less obvious activities such as operating a marina, metal surface coating, printing, stockpiling goods in bulk, and motor vehicle workshops.
