Meet the CCIQ Regional Manager for Brisbane, Colin Fruk

Thursday 16 August | Categories: CCIQ Staff

CCIQ members in Brisbane now have a direct contact to help them get the most from their membership.

Colin Fruk is the first of several new Regional Managers to be appointed across the state, as CCIQ enhances its core function of supporting and speaking up for small-to-medium business.

Colin said he gained a healthy respect for small business owners at a very early age, seeing his father build a successful construction business from the ground up.

“Dad escaped the former Yugoslavia in 1961, which back then was still a strictly communist country, before coming to Australia as an economic refugee,” Colin said.

“He literally crawled across the border into Austria, which says a lot about how desperate situations can become without the opportunity of free enterprise.

"He registered his own business in 1974, and I have vivid memories of both my parents working from dawn til dusk so they could give our family the best.”

With a Bachelor of Business and management experience in large and small companies, Colin says he’s looking forward to helping business owners get every possible assistance to grow their business’s potential.

“It’s my job to make sure our members have a direct line into CCIQ and take advantage of the benefits they pay for, whether that’s access to the latest economic data, HR and legal advice, a voice in changing government regulations, or anything else.

"It’s my goal to make personal contact with every CCIQ member in Brisbane, even if that’s just to let them know I’m here to help.”

Colin’s other main focus will be asking members of both CCIQ and local chambers to put forward ideas which will bring about more productive and profitable business environment in Queensland.

“CCIQ is about being part of a collective movement to ensure small business owners get a say. At a time when unions and big industry associations exert serious influence over government, CCIQ is a lone voice for thousands of small-to-medium businesses who deserve a better deal,” Colin said.

“I want to hear from our members about issues which hold their business back, especially if they can suggest solutions for CCIQ to propose to the Newman and Gillard governments.”

CCIQ members in Greater Brisbane are encouraged to contact Colin anytime on 07 3353 7703 or cfruk@cciq.com.au.
