CCIQ launches legal services practice

18 June

Chamber of Commerce & Industry Queensland (CCIQ), the state's peak industry body, today announced the launch of CCIQ Legal Services, a new legal service focused specifically on Queensland business.

CCIQ Senior General Manager, Steve Murray, said the new service offers Employment Law, retail leasing, commercial litigation and more, and was established from a growing need amongst Queensland small to medium enterprises for access to superior legal expertise at 'membership' rates.

"Workplace relations issues are often complex and risky. As an employer, there is an array of obligations and risks that can hinder workplace effectiveness," Mr Murray said.

"We understand the pressures of operating a small to medium business and can offer a high level of understanding of the particular issues they face."

Mr Murray said the move from a state to federal system of workplace relations, meant now, more than ever, businesses were looking for a greater breadth and depth of service. CCIQ Legal Services will support Queensland business in a timely, business relevant and cost effective manner.

"The modern workplace is a difficult environment to navigate, with constantly changing legislation and processes," Mr Murray said.

"Both individuals and businesses have to ensure they have clear and reliable advice.

"We are confident our new business legal service will be well accepted by the Queensland business community and create a significant new benefit for both members and other clients."

Mr Murray said CCIQ Legal Services is an Incorporated Legal Practice with a Queensland-wide focus, allowing for the provision of legal advice to every corner of the state.

"Our lawyers can be easily accessed, ensuring clients deal directly with the person with the experience and knowledge to provide the best possible outcome for their business," Mr Murray said.

"It's this approachability that differentiates us from many other legal service firms."

Headed by Practice Manager, Noela Gorey, the establishment of CCIQ Legal Services is a step forward in strengthening CCIQ's successful Workplace Relations team, which will continue to provide leadership, expert consulting and training services across the spectrum of the employment lifecycle.
