Face of Queensland business changes

Coverage in today's Courier-Mail has highlighted the changes in Queensland's business landscape identified by CCIQ research.

QUEENSLAND is undergoing a major structural change in its businesses with the biggest growth during the past two years being in arts and recreation, education and training and health care.

An analysis of Australian Bureau of Statistics data by the Chamber of Commerce and Industry Queensland also found that the number of businesses that are employers had fallen by 1.1 per cent.

The worst hit industries were transport, postal and warehousing, the manufacturing sector and agriculture while the number of companies in the utilities sector boomed by 20 per cent between 2009 and 2011.
