Chamber of Commerce and Industry Queensland - Regional Certifying Body (RCB) for temporary skilled workers under 457 visas or the Regional Sponsored Migration Scheme (RSMS)

The role of a Regional Certifying Body (RCB) is to act as a source of assistance for employers to sponsor permanent skilled workers under the Regional Sponsored Migration Scheme (RSMS). Through knowledge of the local labour market, Regional Certifying Bodies (RCBs) certify a nomination before it is submitted to the Department of Immigration and Citizenship (DIAC) for approval.

Chamber of Commerce & Industry Queensland is gazetted as a Regional Certifying Body in the following geographic locations;

The RSMS process

The RSMS process consists of three distinct stages:

1. certification of nominations/vacancy (by a certifying body);
2. nomination by the employer is assessed by DIAC; and
3. nominee's application for a visa.

Employers wishing Chamber of Commerce & Industry Queensland to certify their sponsorship application must provide the following information:

1. 457 application - 1196 nomination form (PDF), or 1196R for electronic applications, or; RSMS applications - Form 1054 (PDF);
2. evidence that the position that the application is being sought, cannot otherwise be reasonably filled locally;
3. evidence that the position that the application is being sought is necessary to the operations of the applicants business;
4. evidence that the position description aligns with the position wishing to be filled;
5. evidence that the employment conditions, including remuneration being offered for the position, at least accord with levels provided for in Australian legislation and awards.
