ARTC Inland Rail

The Australian Rail Track Corporation (ARTC) manages and maintains an 8,500km rail network across five states, working with rail operators to provide access to rail for businesses and producers across Australia.

The Australian Government has committed $9.3 billion and selected ARTC to deliver the 1,700km Melbourne to Brisbane Inland Rail Program in partnership with the private sector.

Inland Rail is the largest freight rail infrastructure project in Australia. It will complete the ‘backbone’ of the national freight network, transforming the freight rail system between Melbourne and Brisbane via regional Victoria, New South Wales and Queensland, better connecting farms and cities to markets and providing supply chain benefits and substantial cost savings for freight companies and producers.

Queensland will receive the largest investment of the entire program and in the order of 7,000 jobs during the peak construction period.

Scenic Rim Regional Council

The Scenic Rim encompasses 4,300 square kilometres and is geographically in a unique position within the broader South East Queensland region and indeed the State. The region has strong connections to other centres across South East Queensland including Ipswich, Logan and the Gold Coast. The more traditional agricultural activities remain a steadfast component of the economy with the Bromelton State Development Area (SDA) also accommodating large-scale industries such as AJ Bush and Sons, SCT Logistics, Gelita Australia, Quickcell Technology Products and Council’s waste transfer station. The Bromelton SDA encompasses more than 15,600 hectares of industrial land and has significant potential for future growth, particularly with Inland Rail currently under construction.

In the western portion of the region, vegetables, cattle and dairy farming are the leading industries. The central section of the region caters for manufacturing and industrial activities as well as turf farming.
