Thursday 28 February, 2019 | By: Dan Petrie

The Chamber of Commerce and Industry Queensland (CCIQ) has welcomed the announcement of the approval of the Arrow Energy $10 billion Surat Basin gas project slated to begin operations in 2020.

The project which utilizes pre-existing infrastructure and processing facilities is expected to create 800 jobs during the construction phase and 200 positions in ongoing operations roles.

CCIQ Head of Industry, Dan Petrie said the announcement is obviously great news and hopefully sets the platform for more resources projects throughout the state.

“The go ahead for this project should hopefully be the start of projects that are not only vital for the economy but can have a transformative effect on the regions in which they are situated in.

“Queensland is a resources states where multi-billion dollar projects provide the region with a comparative advantage next to the likes of New South Wales and Victoria,” Mr Petrie said.
