Coalition Must Maintain Focus on Energy Certainty and Tax Cuts
The Chamber of Commerce and Industry Queensland congratulates Malcolm Turnbull on winning today’s leadership ballot as the parliament begins debate legislation pertaining to energy and tax.
The businesses community urges the government to ensure the focus of government remains on passing the national energy guarantee and tax legislation which will bring down Australia’s already considerably high headline corporate tax rate.
Business is both alarmed and frustrated that ongoing politicking in Canberra continues to dominate headlines when tax and energy price relief that is so crucial to Australia’s overall competitiveness remains in proverbial limbo.
Stability and certainty is the name of the game for Queensland businesses, and CCIQ wants to see the national interest put before short term politics.
The government must now focus on backing the National Energy Guarantee and passing the business tax cuts in the Senate.
