The Chamber of Commerce and Industry Queensland (CCIQ) congratulates incoming Premier and her Labor Team on forming majority government in Queensland.

The Premier and her team have been given a mandate by the Queensland people to deliver on the promises made throughout the 2017 election period.

CCIQ General Manager Advocacy Kate Whittle said there was an end to the uncertainty created by the election period, and now was the time to get on with the job of governing Queensland, with a strong focus on growing business confidence across the State.

CCIQ particularly welcomed the appointment of a dedicated ‘Economic Team’ to drive growth across Queensland.

CCIQ’s Kate Whittle welcomed the move “Long-term, sustainable economic growth is vital for the future of Queensland and it is pleasing that the Premier has developed a ministerial team to drive growth.”

The announcement includes Jackie Trad as Treasurer, Cameron Dick as Minister for State Development, Infrastructure, Planning and Minister for Manufacturing, and Kate Jones as Minister for Innovation and Tourism Development and the Commonwealth Games.

“The Premier has appointed experienced performers to lead the charge on economic growth and we look forward to working with the team to help ensure Queensland is a business friendly state with the most competitive operating environment in Australia.”

CCIQ looks forward to working with the incoming Government to address the issues raised by small and medium enterprise in Queensland throughout the election campaign, particularly energy costs, infrastructure investment and work force skilling.

We would also encourage the State Government to be innovative in its approach to the levers it can pull to create real change, the biggest of all being payroll tax reform.
