Queensland’s Headline Unemployment Rate Returns to 6.0% as Full-Time Job Creation Slows

Queensland’s unemployment rate notched up to 6.0% in May on a trend basis as the national benchmark was unchanged at 5.1% according to the latest data released from the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS). The Chamber of Commerce and Industry Queensland (CCIQ) notes that the creation of around 6,250 jobs in Queensland was, for the second month running, predominantly in part-time positions consisting of an additional 900 full-time positions and of 5,350 part-time roles.
