Statement on the Passing of Former Prime Minister, Robert Hawke
The Chamber of Commerce and Industry Queensland (CCIQ) has issued a statement of condolence to the family of former Labor Prime Minister, Robert (Bob) Hawke who passed away earlier today.
CCIQ CEO, Stephen Tait said Mr Hawke left behind a legacy of reform and consensus that not only had a transformative effect on the Australian economy but set the benchmark for collaboration between government and business.
“Bob Hawke’s legacy included the introduction of Medicare, the floating of the Australian dollar and an ambitious reform plan that has seen the country enjoy an unprecedented record of 30 years of uninterrupted growth.
“On behalf of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry Queensland and affiliated members I would like to express our deep condolences to the Hawke family at this time.”
