Update on RSMS

Regional Sponsored Migration Scheme visa closes 16 November 2019.


As per Home Affairs The Regional Sponsored Migration Scheme (RSMS) Direct Entry (DE) stream visa will close to new applications from 16 November 2019.

Employers/migration agents who intend to lodge RSMS nomination and visa applications under the DE stream should submit a request for assessment by a relevant Regional Certifying Body (RCB) regarding local labour market conditions before this date.

As of the 16th of November 2019 CCIQ RCBs will be providing RCB Advice under the new 494 visa.

Amended Form 1404 and additional information will be available on the CCIQ website prior to the 16th of November 2019 for the new 494 visa.

As a Regional Certifying Body (RCB) for Queensland, CCIQ provides advice to the Department of Home Affairs (Home Affairs) on RSMS Direct Entry stream employer nomination applications, using local area knowledge to advise the department in relation to the genuine need for the nominated position and terms and conditions of employment in accordance with certain specified requirements

Your RSMS Direct Entry stream nominations must be accompanied by advice from an RCB (this can be before or after you lodge with Home Affairs). However, Home Affairs cannot approve your nominations without advice from the relevant RCB.

CCIQ RCB locations

CCIQ is responsible for servicing Queensland regional locations including Cairns, Gold Coast, Mackay, Rockhampton, Emerald, Sunshine Coast, Wide Bay & Burnett (including Bundaberg), Toowoomba and Townsville.

Employer nominations must be considered by an RCB located in the same state or territory where the nominated position exists. It is our responsibility to ensure that requests relate to a position within its jurisdiction in the relevant state or territory and that the position is within the nominating business.

CCIQ RCB advice

The RCB advice processing time will be within 10 business days of receipt of the request, payment and applicable supporting documents.

Fees and charges

  • CCIQ Members: $414.70 (Inc. GST) - 35% member discount
  • CCIQ Non-Members: $638.00 (Inc. GST)

The processing fees are non-refundable regardless of the outcome.

Cancellation Policy

Any cancellations are to be made in writing, within 24 hours from initial RCB advice request.

If you hold any of the following CCIQ Memberships, you are eligible for the 35% member discount on all RCB advice:

Providing Immigration Advice

CCIQ's role as the RCB is to provide advice to the Department as to whether a nomination meets relevant criteria. It's our responsibility answer queries that relate directly to the RCB assessment process.
