Alex Gow Funerals

Alex Gow Funerals dates back to 1840, when it was established as Queensland’s first funeral business. The business changed hands several times in the following years, before finally landing in the hands of the Gow family in 1908.

Since 1908, Alex Gow Funerals has remained a family-owned and operated independent business. By remaining family-owned, we have not been burdened by fluctuating stock market prices or a need to impress corporate shareholders. Our services are fairly priced and delivered with the most professional service, which we consider entwined in our family’s longstanding reputation for excellence. We live for our business and everything we do reflects our ongoing commitment to providing affordable, quality services to our community.

Our funeral directors are extremely proud of their heritage and particularly the fact that we have a long legacy of delivering funeral services in the Brisbane area. We believe that by staying local and family-owned we are able to give a more personal service and be more flexible to the individual needs of our clients.

From our flagship Newstead location we’ve opened three other funeral planning offices in Greater Brisbane and continue to grow. We plan to extend our funeral planning services across South East Queensland, to bring better choices to communities outside of Brisbane.

Everyone at Alex Gow Funerals Brisbane – whether owners or employees – is driven by the ideals of family, partnership and responsibility. These ideals are entwined with the camaraderie we share and enable us reach out to our customers and community members in a genuine way. Our strong family values drive us to serve you and your family in the most respectable way.
