Can your business benefit from the Better Offer Overall Test (BOOT)?

On December 6, 2022 the Fair Work Act was amended through the introduction of the ‘Secure Jobs, Better Pay’ Act 2022. The amendments include reassessment of how the Better Off Overall Test is applied, to reflect a global assessment of pay and conditions.

The amendments also provide for the replacement of overly technical pre-approval steps where a genuine agreement has been reached between employers and employees that is in line with the principles of the Fair Work Commission.

There were also changes made to improve the process for initiating bargaining and accessing support when bargaining.

Join Business Chamber Queensland’s webinar in partnership with Gilchrist Connell to understand how bargaining can be initiated, changes in the Better Off Overall Test (BOOT) and how employers can take advantage of these changes. The webinar will cover:

  • changes to the Better Off Overall Test (BOOT)
  • how to initiate bargaining by a single bargaining representative
  • what Fair Work Commission (FWC) will consider when approving agreements
  • simplifying enterprise agreement approval requirements
  • ‘Supported Bargaining Stream’ – previously the low-paid bargaining stream

Hear from experts and apply this information in practice when making changes in the workplace.
